BCAB White Water Leader Assessment
The BCAB White Water Leader Assessment is designed for capable paddlers who are ready to refine and demonstrate their leadership skills in whitewater environments. The assessment focuses on your ability to lead groups safely, confidently, and effectively while navigating whitewater.
Assessment Areas
To achieve the qualification, you will need to show competence in the following:
- Participant‑focused leadership skills
- Personal paddling ability
- Rescue skills
- Relevant background knowledge, understanding, and experience
Assessment Format
The assessment typically takes one day, depending on group size, river conditions, and access to suitable environments.
After completing the assessment, the course provider will submit successful candidates for certification.

Pre-Requisite:
Before the assessment day we will arrange a meeting to confirm all the per-requisites.
Candidates require the following:
- White Water Kayak Leader training (Optional)
- White Water Safety or White Water Safety & Rescue training
- Home Nation Leadership Registration (LR) Form
- Valid Safeguarding qualification
- Full Home Nation Association Membership
- Valid 2 day First Aid training
- Aged 18 or over
